Mary Jane Boynton

Educational Services & Advocacy Specialist

After 33 years in public education, I am honored to become a founding member of The Parents and Children project, sharing my expertise as an educator, advocate, and leader. My purpose or “why” for doing what I do, is to ensure ALL children receive the best possible educational experiences. And I mean ALL children. My mantra is “it’s all about the kids!” I’m a seasoned advocate for children, particularly those in special education, those with behavior challenges, or students struggling to find their way through the school setting. I firmly believe that every child is born with immense potential. It is our collective responsibility as adults to create meaningful educational and experiential opportunities that nurture this potential.

My approach centers around the child, emphasizing collaboration and positive partnerships. Beyond my professional journey in public education, my personal life has profoundly influenced my commitments and passions. I draw wisdom from life’s challenges, love, neurodiversity, and the unique journey of special needs parenting. My greatest teachers? My son and my niece—two wonderfully quirky souls who embrace life through their distinct passions.

My 14-year voyage through the educational landscape with a neurodivergent, twice exceptional child has shaped me as a parent and a professional. The empathy and passion I gained as a parent now infuse my role as an educator, administrator, and advocate. It’s these lived experiences that fuel our understanding and drive positive change!

I love my work, and also love spending time with my son and husband, working out, watching our favorite shows, or taking a moment to read. I remain committed to the promise I made to my grandmother to not lose my talent, and can be found singing weekly with a professional choir.
